Airport pickups

How airport pickup works with Spires Taxis

Most of our airport work is pre-booked. You send the flight details, we confirm a fixed fare, and on the day we track the flight and meet you after landing. This page explains what that means in practice.

What we need from you when you book

For an arrivals job, the useful details are:

  • Flight number and landing date
  • Terminal, if you know it (otherwise the flight number is enough)
  • Number of passengers and bags
  • Full drop-off address in Oxford or Oxfordshire
  • A mobile number we can reach on the day

WhatsApp is usually the quickest way to send that. Online booking works well if you already know the details.

On the day of travel

A simple sequence, so you’re not guessing at baggage reclaim.

  1. We check the flight Landing times change. We monitor the status and move our arrival time if the flight is late or early.
  2. Your driver contacts you Before or around landing, you’ll get a message or call so you know who is collecting you.
  3. Meet after reclaim We meet in arrivals with a name board where that works, or at a clear pickup point if the terminal requires it. You don’t need to wander around looking for a random car on the forecourt.
  4. Drive to Oxfordshire Fixed fare, agreed before you travelled. Pay by card or cash unless you have an account.

Flight monitoring — what it does and doesn’t do

Flight monitoring means we watch the published landing time for your flight number. If the plane is delayed, we don’t turn up at the original clock time and leave. We adjust.

It does not mean unlimited free waiting forever. Airport fares include waiting within our standard allowance after landing. If you need much longer — for example a long customs delay beyond that allowance — extra waiting is charged at the rate on our rates page.

Tip: If you’re travelling with a large group or several big cases, tell us at booking. We may recommend the Mercedes Vito rather than a smaller car.

Heathrow terminals

We collect from Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Terminal layouts and short-stay rules change over time, so we confirm the meet plan with your booking rather than publishing a map that goes out of date.

TerminalWhat helps us
T2 / T3Flight number + mobile — common for many European and long-haul arrivals
T4Tell us T4 if you already know; it’s separate from the central terminals
T5Often British Airways — flight number is usually enough

Outbound drop-offs

Going to the airport is simpler: we pick you up at home, college, hotel or station and take you to the terminal you need.

When to leave Oxford for Heathrow

Allow 60–90 minutes driving in normal traffic, plus buffer for check-in. Friday afternoons and holiday periods on the M25 and approaches can add a lot of time — we’ll suggest an earlier pickup if your flight is tight.

Gatwick, Luton and others

Same idea: fixed fare, agreed terminal, pickup time worked back from your flight. See Gatwick, Luton and the full list on rates.

Common questions

Do you track flights for airport pickups?

Yes. Give us your flight number when you book. We check the landing time and adjust for delays or early arrivals.

How long will you wait after my flight lands?

Airport quotes include waiting after landing within our standard allowance. Extra waiting beyond that is charged at the published hourly rate on our rates page.

Where do you meet me at Heathrow?

We agree the meet plan when you book. Usually your driver contacts you after landing and meets you in arrivals with a name board, or at a clear pickup point if the terminal layout requires it.

Is parking included in the fare?

Normal airport pickup costs for a pre-booked meet are included in the quoted airport fare. See what’s included.
