An Oxford private hire firm that does a lot of airport work
We’re a local licensed operator. Most of the journeys we take are pre-booked airport transfers — Heathrow especially — plus local trips around Oxford and the nearby towns. Fixed fares, flight monitoring on arrivals, and a phone number you can actually reach.
What we actually do
Day to day, that means:
- Airport transfers to and from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Birmingham, London City and Bristol
- Local private hire around Oxford — stations, hospitals, colleges, hotels and home addresses
- Student and family runs at term start, with luggage
- Business travel and account-style invoicing when arranged in advance
We are not a national app. We’re not a black-cab rank operator either. Private hire law means journeys are booked before travel — which is how airport work should run if you want a confirmed car and a confirmed price.
How we plan Oxford pickups
Oxford isn’t one simple grid. College access, one-way streets, the ring road and rush hour around Headington and Summertown all affect timing. For airport jobs we work back from your flight, not from a hopeful guess.
On the M40 corridor to Heathrow we allow for normal traffic. Friday afternoons and holiday weekends can add a lot of time near the M25 — if your check-in is tight, we’ll say so and suggest an earlier pickup.

What we don’t do
- Invent review scores or testimonials for the website
- Quote a “from” price that ignores luggage or passenger count
- Leave you guessing about waiting time after landing — see rates for the published rules
- Claim awards or “years of excellence” language that doesn’t help you book a car
Licensing
Spires Taxis is a licensed private hire operator with Oxford City Council. All journeys are pre-booked.
We’ll publish our operator licence number here once we’ve confirmed the exact reference for the public site. Until then, you can ask us for licensing details when you book, and you can check licensed operators via Oxford City Council’s private hire information.
